Letting Go of Old Stuff

I’ve been cleaning out all the stuff from my old desk and transferring it to my new desk.  There was so much forgotten stuff in there.  Why am I having so much trouble letting go of things like my study cards from the Ornithology class that I took more than 10 years ago?  Do I really need to know what the Order Charadriiformes is?  No, I don’t!  Well, maybe I do.  At least there’s a part of me that says I need to know.  For example, it bothers me that when I’m trying to explain something to my kids, and I just cannot remember the details.  I just know that perhaps so-and-so is approximately kind of something like this.  My explanations come out sounding like …

    Instead of putting the cards back in your drawer, you should go over that info and put it up on Wikipedia if not already there. Convert the physical to virtual and not only have you reclaimed physical space but you have the info online for not only your kids but the world to see.

I suppose this story needs a set-up. So, please follow me through two different lines of thought.

1. You know my previous post which talks about pictures that I love? It’s the one with my daughter, Carrie, running in the garden. I love that picture.
