I was out in the garden with my daughter, Paige, the other day. I noticed that she had spent quite a long time just sitting in one spot working on something. I didn’t go to see what she was doing, and after I had finished up my own mundane tasks, I went inside.

Later, she came inside and gave me this:

She had taken one type of leaf, which was long and strip-like, and used it to sew stitches in another type of leaf, which was broad and flat. It was such a thing of beauty. Hello, Summer!

My older two kids just finished up an art class that took place at the Dublin Heritage Center. What an interesting place. Admission is free, by the way. Go check it out. Although I love modern design and decorating for living, I also love the richness of details brought by old and vintage things in photographs. I found some cool spots that were great for children’s portraits. While the girls were in class, Nathaniel and I had some free time to fill. As always, he’s my little helper when I want to test out some ideas.
