Things have been percolating, brewing, and simmering at the back of my mind for a while. I have been wanting to take my photography to the next level. I have been wanting to create more than just “pretty pictures.” Pretty pictures are important, of course. That is to say, beautiful light, good technique and composition are all important. An image has to be appealing to the eyes, or it’s time to call “game over.” On the other hand, meaningful photography has to go beyond “prettiness.” Does it tell a story? Will it stand the test of time? Can it bring back the most important memories?

Happy Valentine’s Day 2011

I have always thought of photographs as love notes. They say something about the subject of the photographs, of course. They say something about the photogapher. And from the viewer’s perspective, when she is drawn in to pondering the subject, she is pulled into a triangle of emotions between subject, photographer, and viewer.
