What I see in my own family portraits is not just a recording of what my children looked like that day. Rather, what I see are stories of individuals who are beautiful, who have deep personalities, and whose lives are art. My photographs are love poems to my children. My wish is that, someday, when they are much more grown, my photographs will remind them of how valuable they are and how much they are loved.

• I love the hardware store. My heart races whenever I go there. The hardware store represents possibilities—all at my fingertips. Impossibilities don’t exist.
• I also love the smell of lumber.
• I’m a huge nerd.
• My guilty pleasure: watching reality shows on BravoTV. I know. I need to go hide in shame .
• I met my husband when we were online gamers. We played QuakeWorld Teamfortress—in the same clan. At one point, we were both clan leaders. Did I mention that I was a huge nerd?

• Although I am of the nerdish persuasion, I can be a big ball of apparent contradiction. I love looking at and following fashion. I studied to be a ecologist and still get excited when thinking about science research. An awesome graph will make my heart skip beats. I also am an avid amateur student of interior and graphic design. I love shoes. Maybe all of this is not so contradictory, and it just means I’m a very visual person.
